Like I said earlier, I have been working on a few projects since we have this time off of school and can't go anywhere due to Andre being on call. Here are two projects that I finished today. I really like the way they both turned out. I got the tutorial for the rug here: http://www.modabakeshop.com/2009/02/braided-rag-rug.html and the idea for the mason jar thing here: http://camillestyles.com/2011/transformed-mason-jar-herb-garden/. The rug ended up being pretty hard. I was almost done with it and decided it looked HORRIBLE so I unstitched it all and started over. Did I mention that I stitched it all together by hand?? Yeah. I did. And I'm working on a matching one to go in front of my stove. I really like it and I'm glad I took the time to make it.
Since Andre is on call, we had Christmas with just our little family. On Christmas Eve, we decided we wanted to start a tradition of New York Steaks every year. We even got them cut at the meat department (a first for Andre and I since we usually buy our meat from the 50% off bin). It was delicious. On Christmas, we woke up, went to church which was only Sacrament meeting, and came home to open presents. As you can tell by the pictures, Archimedes was super tired, but he enjoyed the presents.. well at least the wrapping paper. There are also a few pictures of Andre taking down the ornaments. We took down the tree and everything as soon as Archimedes was down for his nap. I was sick of keeping him away from it :) Also, notice the shorts Andre is wearing. On Christmas. He was super happy that it wasn't cold, I was super sad that we had no snow. We were sad that we didn't get to talk to either of our brothers since we weren't home and we missed seeing family, but all in all it was a pretty good day.
This one was his favorite toy... it cost about a $1.50.
