Terrible, Horrible, No good, Very bad day.

Archimedes has had a pretty crappy day today. He hasn't been feeling very good lately (neither have I or Andre) and I think he is pushing through his top two teeth. So his day started off crappy from the get go. He recently has learned how to climb stairs and this morning he learned how to fall down them. Andre or I walk behind him while he is going up in case he falls, and he fell twice this morning. The first time it wasn't a big deal and in about 10 seconds he was back at it. The second time, I think he bit his lip because he had a bunch of blood in his mouth. I suspect that it will be the first of many accidental injuries for this boy. He is so crazy and all over the place. Anyway, he also had a doctors appointment today. In the waiting room, he smashed a couple of his fingers on a toy. He wasn't a very happy camper. And then of course he had to get a shot to top it all off. So now, its 11:22 and he is down for a nap.. hopefully the day gets a little better for him after his nap!

 I know these are a little late but... better late than never right!

Skirt

I was bored so... I made a skirt. I'm pretty bad at sewing but I really want to get better at it. Anyway I just discovered that Walmart has a value fabric section. So I made this skirt for less than $5. This was actually my second attempt. The first time I made it just a little too small (I think it'll fit when I'm not pregnant) and I didn't do an A-line cut the first time so it was completely straight.. So I couldn't have walked in it even if it did fit me. The second time, I did do the A line, but it could have used a little more of an angle I think. Anyway, Its not great, but I think its pretty good for me not really having ever sewn much before. It actually looks better than the picture makes it look I think but.. maybe I just have a biased perspective.

Okay I am seriously behind on my posting. This post is going to be super super long, but full of pictures so.. enjoy!

The first week of January, my parents took Andre, Archimedes, and I to Florida! My parents and my brother Paul went too and Scott and Traci were there of course. It was an awesome trip. We went to Animal Kingdom and the beach and stayed at a super awesome hotel with a lazy river and everything. I didn't take my camera, but my sister in law Traci had hers and she sent me some pictures. Here they are:

So that was the vacation. It was super nice to see family and spend some time with my parents. 

So the next group of pictures is from about two or three weeks ago. Archimedes has started pulling himself up onto EVERYTHING. Its crazy that at the beginning of January, he could barely even army crawl and now he is all over the place. Here are a couple pictures I took one day when I caught him trying to stand up. 

Isn't he cute? I took a bunch of pictures of his face that day because hes just so dang cute. Anyway, the last few pictures are from today. It was finally a nice day so we decided to check out the play area right outside our house. There was still snow on the crawl through areas and Archimedes wasn't too sure about it but we found some dry grass and some sidewalk and he played and played. He loves being outside.

So that was our day today. It was a lot of fun. Oh yeah, we started off the day with Archimedes falling off the changing table.. I felt SO bad. I turned around just for a second and he rolled off of it. Its also not a normal sized changing table. I made it myself so its like... four feet high. But he seemed to be okay besides just a little bit scared. He also doesn't try to roll over when I change him anymore...

I can't believe how much this kid is growing. Hes almost nine months now. Hes got one tooth with another almost in. He absolutely LOVES this toy my mom got him for christmas and I thought I'd put a couple videos so those of you who don't see him much can see how big he is getting.

My new discovery

So, we just got back from a week in Florida visiting my brother Scott and his wife Traci. My parents and my brother Paul were there too. I am going to write a separate post about that later.. this one is to tell you about this super awesome thing that I've started doing.

So I can't remember where I heard about this program, but I had been looking into it for a little while and decided to just try it. I have only been doing it for a week, but I seriously love it. I don't know for sure if it has actually saved me money but what it has done is eliminated the need for me to decide what I'm making for dinner. I am sure I am spending more on groceries than before but that is mostly only because before we were eating mac and cheese or ramen and eggs for dinner or kinda just whatever we had in the fridge because I was too lazy to decide what to make. seriously. But when I went shopping this time, I felt like I was actually buying food and not just random crap. This program gives you a shopping list for five meals for the 2-3 person plan and I think 7 for the other plans. We are just doing the 2-3 person Walmart plan, and it makes plenty of food with left overs most nights. So far, the meals have been easy to make but they have been really pretty good. The only thing I really don't like about it is the need to go shopping every week. The other thing is that they only have you get enough for that week (this week they said to just get 8 oz of sour cream because that is exactly how much the recipe called for), so I bought more since I figured there is a good chance it will be in a recipe next week too. Anyway, I just thought I'd share that little bit of fun.

New Years

We spent New Years at Andre's parents house this year. Every year, they have a pretty big party and invite a whole bunch of people. I think they invited 40 something this year and 37 showed up so there was a lot of people. We played games and someone brought Rock Band which was a big hit. Those same people brought a game called "bang" that looked like a lot of fun, although I never actually played it. There was a lot of food! At midnight, we celebrated with a firework show. Sheila told Andre the show could only last 5 minutes. It actually only lasted about three before Sheila told him it was enough. During that three minutes, he set of 42 mortars and who knows how many other fireworks. It was pretty intense. Archimedes went to bed at 8 for about 15 minutes and was awake the rest of the night until 1145 when he finally fell asleep in my arms, only to be woken up by the fireworks 15 minutes later. It was pretty funny, he kept trying to sit up in his sleep. I finally got up and went to a window where we could see them. He loved them. He is definitely his father's child.

I'm excited to start off this new year. This last year we saw some HUGE changes in our lives and I know this next year will be the same. It's crazy, right now, we don't even know where we will be living by this time next year. Andre will start his student teaching in the fall and we don't really get to pick where they send us for that. We told them three places where we would like to go, so we'll see where we actually get put. This year will be full of surprises, that's for sure. The thing I am most excited for is our new baby girl that will be here in May :)

So I guess it's time to announce to everyone who doesn't already know that we are expecting another baby! I am due on May 21st, and we found out today that its a girl! We are very excited and can't wait to meet her. Here are pictures from her photo shoot today
