Well, it happened. We all knew it would. Archimedes was outside and he fell yesterday and when Andre went to pick up him, he started crying. Andre brought him inside and he sat in the middle of the kitchen floor and just cried for about 10 minutes. I didn't really think anything of it because he is always upset about coming inside, and it was dinner time, so I just let him cry while I finished making dinner. I went to feed him and he wouldn't eat, he would drink, he just kept crying. I thought maybe it was his teeth, so I gave him a Popsicle. He ate that just fine, and I could slip in the occasional bite of food, but for the most part he wouldn't really eat. We undressed him to make sure he hadn't been stung by a bee or something, but found nothing. I chalked it up to the teeth (He is pushing 6 through right now). I gave him some advil and put him to bed. He slept for awhile, but woke up crying a little while later. When I got him up I realized he wasn't moving his left arm. At all. Andre and I looked and looked and found nothing on his arm. I thought maybe a dislocated shoulder... but he wasn't like SCREAMING.. just whining. So I tried to feed him and this time he ate, and wanted to go back to bed. In the morning, he wouldn't stand up in his crib, he wouldn't reach for me or do anything with that arm, so I decided to take him into the ER.
After about two hours, the dr finally came in. It took him about 30 seconds to tell me that Archimedes had dislocated his elbow. He did a little maneuvering... while I held a screaming child. After a minute, he said "there. I heard it pop" He had me calm Archimedes down and in about another minute, he was using his arm again. Just like that.Afterwords, we went and got some McDonalds, and went home. He was pretty exhausted.. as you can plainly see:

What an awful day! I am glad he is okay and it was a quick fix. ♥
ReplyDeleteThat has happened to both Maysen and Jorja. When Maysen was little she was screaming so hard the doctor said, "I have never wanted to put anyone under for this before until now." Yep. My kids are good patients. I'm glad you took him in and he is back to new. So sad to see your kids in pain.
ReplyDeleteThat happened to Timberlyn too. Be careful for the next couple of weeks until it gets really strong again - It can come out more easily the second time unless it has time to heal. Glad he's feeling better!
